In my defense, I did pass the AP Biology exam in high school. And Calculus. Which might be the last time I studied math or science, since having passed the exams exempted me from any such classes in college.
But what am I going to do when my kids start taking science classes? Sure, J is probably better at these subjects than I am, but still. I really don't want to be the dumb parent.
If it makes you feel better, I got a D, while my show-off husband got a B+. Grrr.

ReplyDeleteI passed AP calc and Bio exams too and I'm a nurse and only got a D+. Scary.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I had J take the exam and he got a B-. I guess I know which of us will be helping with science projects, and which of us will be making snide remarks about the usefulness of 8th grade science.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, my daughter (currently in 8th grade) took the test and she failed it! I passed with a D+, and that's with misreading a couple of the questions. My 6th grader also took it, she failed miserably! Who knew you had to know some of that stuff in 8th grade!
ReplyDeleteI got a B-, but for some of those questions I just had to close my eyes and point. Guess I'll be reading my kids' textbooks along with them.
ReplyDeleteWell, I got a C. Whatever. Where's the one about information I actually use or one that tests an understanding of how science is done rather than memorized facts?
